Job Summary: 

The Wellesley College Art Department seeks a dynamic visual artist with expertise in photography. The successful candidate will possess an MFA or equivalent terminal degree, college-level teaching experience, and have a strong professional career underway. Knowledge of and ability to teach all practices of fine art photography, both traditional and digital required; experience with related media (i.e. performance, installation) and/or interdisciplinary collaborations a plus. The successful candidate must be versed in the complexities of mediated identity and intercultural issues of representation and be able to relate the historical and emerging issues of photography to an undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. The Art Department curriculum supports majors in Studio Art, Architecture, Media Arts and Sciences, Cinema and Media Studies, and Art History. Teaching load consists of four studio courses per year, including foundations as well as advanced offerings. The opportunity exists to develop new courses and to revise those existing within the Art Department.
In addition to professional development and college service, duties will include collaborative oversight and development of our new photo-related facilities, co-directing the Media Arts and Sciences program, advising majors, theses, and independent students in Studio Art, Media Arts and Sciences, Cinema and Media Studies and interacting with the programs and faculty at MIT, Olin College, Babson College, and other nearby institutions.

Requirements:

Candidates must possess an MFA or equivalent terminal degree in photography and have a promising professional career underway. College-level teaching experience preferred.
