The Wheeling Student Engagement Manager position will work proactively to provide a robust schedule of student life programming to engage students at the Wheeling campus in out of class activities. The Student Engagement Manager will assist both the Residence Life and Student Experience departments in all events at NLU, while having primary responsibility for all programming at the Wheeling campus. This position will be responsible for planning a full schedule of developmental programming and events to meet the needs of students, working closely with student organizations to enhance student leadership and campus engagement, and increase membership. The Student Engagement Manager will work closely with staff from the Pathways program and Undergraduate College to collaborate on campus program planning.

Outcomes:

•Manages student life programming at the Wheeling campus to provide a robust schedule of events to meet the needs of students at the Wheeling campus.
•Provide leadership to student clubs and organizations at the Wheeling campus, developing training for student leaders and engaging students in the planning of activities and events.
•Collaborate with the Student Experience and Residence Life departments in offering developmental programming across all campuses, participating in the planning and operations of events, new student orientation and other activities.
•Hire, train and supervise student employees at the Wheeling campus.
•Performs structured assessments of student needs for campus life and assists with departmental assessment of student outcomes to evaluate programming success.
•Contributes in providing social media content and content for student apps for students

Your Competencies:

•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and the community to create a diverse, inclusive office and campus
•Must be enthusiastic, organized and demonstrate a positive spirit.
•Strong ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and activities, self-direct, make effective use of resources, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
•Position will require travel between NLU campuses
•Requires evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of students
•Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in higher education or related field preferred
•Requires at least two (2) years related professional experience and an understanding of the higher education environment.
•Experience in higher education working with minority and first-generation college students strongly preferred.
•Knowledge of student development theory, particularly as it pertains to first-generation college students
