Position Summary

This position leads all aspects of the College of Pharmacy’s information and instructional technology (IIT) serving five campuses (Athens, Albany, Augusta, Gwinnett and Savannah). This position represents the College of Pharmacy at University level governance and serves as an advisor to the Dean’s Office and College leadership. This position ensures alignment between College of Pharmacy IIT and the mission of the College; this position is accountable for making the College of Pharmacy IIT innovative, efficient, and effective. This position oversees multiple complex projects with a college wide scope. This position has extensive budget and performance management responsibilities. This position has additional duties in the areas of college and unit level strategic planning, staffing, and process improvement.

Administrative Leadership
•Serve as senior IIT advisor to Dean’s Office and Pharmacy leadership.

•Represent the College of Pharmacy in University level IIT governance including serving as college voting member of the Information Technology Management Forum (ITMF.) The ITMF members serve as IT leaders and advocates throughout the university community. ITMF will facilitate collaboration and communication among IT units at all levels of the university community. ITMF promotes and adopts efficient IT implementations and integrates local and centralized IT services when appropriate. ITMF provides input on standards and policy development and other information technology matters involving the campus as a whole.

•Represent the College of Pharmacy at University level informal discussion groups relating to educational, instructional and information technology as well as participate in other committees as assigned.

•Provide strategic leadership for all IIT services in the College of Pharmacy including planning, delivery, and management.

•Oversee multiple complex projects with a college-wide scope.

•Ensure alignment between Pharmacy IIT and the mission of the College; make Pharmacy IIT innovative, efficient, and effective.

•Facilitate data driven decision making and paperless processes.

•Align with University level IIT and develop IIT policies, standards, and procedures for the College of Pharmacy as necessary and updates College policies annually. Maintains an understanding of University and USG policies and procedures.

•Lead and/or participate in instructional technology and information technology committees, forums, or councils supporting the continuous improvement of technology and its applications for the College or University.

•Effectively communicate with stakeholders inside and outside the College of Pharmacy; serve as a translator between technical and non-technical audiences, as well as audiences both within and outside higher education and healthcare environments.

•Maintain understanding of University and College wide priorities, processes, and operations.

•Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

•Engage in brokering and negotiations on behalf of the College of Pharmacy.

Infrastructure and Resource Management

This position oversees and supervises the following:
•The development of budgets and timelines to prepare for network and security infrastructure needs.

•The collaboration with University level IIT to best utilize services and products recommended and approved at the University level.

•The operational aspects of equipment allocations including scenario vetting and all other logistics.

•The purchase of a wide range of IIT related goods and services.

•All aspects of student technology fee including data collection, proposal development, allocations, budgeting, and reporting.

•The deployment and operation of all instructional technology to include working closely with leadership at the main campus (Athens) and the extended campuses (Albany, Augusta, Gwinnett, and Savannah) to coordinate all IIT services.

•The testing and evaluation of IIT for use/improvement. Provide status reports and recommendations to administration.

•The technology support for online learning and online continuing education services

•The development of data security strategies and guidelines that comply with UGA security policies and procedures, FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI/DSS.

•The development and revise of safety and security plans for the College to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery.
