Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology-Introductory Biology

Beloit College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach two introductory laboratory courses during the spring 2020 semester. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in biology or related field, A.B.D will be considered. The courses could focus on botany, zoology, microbiology, human biology, or other organism-focused topic. All introductory biology courses at Beloit College are inquiry-based, have an integrated laboratory component, enroll biology majors and other students, and are limited to 24 students. These courses stress scientific principles and experimental methods and engage students in the design, performance, analysis, and communication of results of small research projects.

We especially seek candidates who have demonstrated success in working with diverse populations of students. This position is an excellent opportunity to teach in a department that is nationally-known for innovative pedagogy. The visiting faculty member will receive individualized mentoring from members of the biology faculty, as well as ample opportunity to pursue professional development as both a teacher and scholar. Over the last 25 years, multiple visiting faculty members in the biology department have secured tenure-track positions at colleges and universities.
