Communications Associate, Center on Poverty and Inequality - Georgetown University Law Center

The Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality's Initiative on Gender Justice & Opportunity is rapidly expanding its project portfolio and funding goals. With the growing work of the Initiative, a Communications Associate is needed to play necessary role in contributing to the Initiative's strategic development, marketing, and communications activities. S/he will assume duties that include but are not limited to:

Strategy:
  • Develop and implement strategies and marketing campaigns for the Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality's Initiative on Gender Justice & Opportunity in partnership with the Director of Administration and Executive Director of the Center.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Administration and Executive Director of the Center to develop overall branding, media, & marketing strategy for Initiative on Gender Justice and Opportunity's digital platforms.
  • Draft an internal strategy for systematic communications and a marketing approach for the Initiative in order for staff to implement and sustain the developed branding, media, and marketing strategy.

Marketing & Communications:
  • Assess, measure, and report the impact of various communications initiatives and provide recommendations for new strategies across channels.
  • Create communications materials for the Initiative, in collaboration with the Director of Administration: quarterly newsletters, quarterly email blasts, promotional materials (as-needed), and weekly social media content.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Administration to develop and implement project-related press and communications campaigns, which take place once or twice annually.
  • Draft press materials, including press releases and press kits relating, for the occasional campaign or launch event.
  • Collect metrics to measure reach of Initiative's press campaigns, in coordination with the law center's Communications Department, and develop strategy accordingly.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of experience working in communications
  • Strong proficiency in WordPress, Google Analytics, PowerPoint, Twitter, Facebook, lnstagram, Linked In, and YouTube
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities and a poised, professional demeanor
  • Critical ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute
  • Must be able to appreciate, embrace and advance diversity and have experience working with multicultural populations

Referenced qualifications
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting low-income women and girls and women and girls of color
  • Experience working on domestic girls' issues and/or youth issues in education and juvenile justice systems
  • Experience working with paid promotions, including Google and Facebook advertisements
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop/Adobe Suite, lnDesign, or Illustrator
