The Office of the Arts/ArtsEmerson at Emerson College is seeking confident, personable, and dependable Ticket Representatives for part-time employment at the Paramount and Cutler Majestic Theatres in the heart of downtown Boston's Theatre District. This is an entry-level box office position with opportunity for growth. Come learn the inner workings of a non-profit, professional theatre presenting organization that brings world-class theatre to Boston while also supporting student and community productions. The position requires applicants to be outgoing, friendly, proactive, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the public and within a team.

Availability on weeknights and weekends required. 8-20 hours per week, dependent on availability and performance schedule, with some flexibility.

Duties
  • Provide top-notch, enthusiastic customer service over the phone and in person by answering patron questions or concerns, attending to a variety of patron needs, and responding to comments, complaints, and questions from patrons in a friendly manner.
  • Insure that all customers feel informed and welcomed to the theatres by proactively engaging in conversation with visitors about our programming.
  • Sell tickets and season packages, take donations, and distribute will-call tickets before performances.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of our performances and policies and articulate that knowledge to fellow staff and patrons when called upon.
  • Be comfortable and familiar with handling multiple payment forms, such as cash, check, and credit cards.
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly box office tasks such as ticket mailings and database cleanup.
  • Assist management staff with basic office-related tasks and long-term projects to increase box office efficiency and better the patron experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • A genuine passion for theatre and customer service is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and confidently and independently problem-solve.
  • Applicant should be proficient in verbal communication and feel comfortable initiating conversations with professionalism, respect, and confidence.
  • Experience in customer service or retail is preferred, but not required.
  • Nearly all aspects of this position require the use of a computer. Basic computer skills including email communication, browser and folder navigation, window management, and typing are essential and required.
  • Cash and credit card handling experience preferred.
  • Previous box office, theater, or ticketing software experience a plus, but not required.


Grade of Position: T01N40

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 8.00

Hourly Rate: $12.00
