General responsibilities include working with a team to produce high quality digital content, measuring the effectiveness of digital content and strategies, and coordinating strategic use of digital platforms. This position resides in the Office of Communications and Marketing, a full service public relations and marketing agency serving the university’s external creative and marketing needs.
Position directs and coordinates the work of departmental content managers, content owners and content approvers in obtaining information about educational programs and departmental procedures for publication to the university web sites and print and social media. Represents the perspective of university web, print, and social media audiences in working toward development and writing of content that is timely, accurate, well written and consistent with current web and marketing practices.
Direct responsibility for the content of the top-level content areas of the VSU web site. Oversees communications and marketing content of the university social media accounts, with a direct responsibility for the content of the top-level social media accounts representing the university as a whole.
Works toward continuous improvement of university web, print, and social media content quality, and provides support on the use of the web site and social media to support individual department communication needs.
Required QualificationsCompletion of bachelor’s degree in the fields of marketing, communications, public relations, or related field required.
At least one year of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications3+ years of significant work experience in these fields preferred.
Experience in higher education preferred.
Proven experience with language, usage, editing, and writing skills to create imaginative and persuasive copy; experience with Mac computer-based programs involving writing, desktop publishing, graphics, and proficient in content management systems (Word Press, Cascade, etc.) all preferred.
The ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks on schedule is essential, along with the ability to work as needed on weekends and evenings.

Compliance RequirementsPosition Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
Position Requires a Criminal Background Check.
