Under the direction of the head women’s volleyball coach, the assistant will assist in all aspects of developing the volleyball program and promotion sports at Sheridan College. Assist in weight room and conditioning programs, daily practice plans, on the floor coaching, game preparation, team travel, promotion of Sheridan College Volleyball, recruitment of quality student/athletes, provide and assist in monitoring academic support/success, and assist in advising student/athletes.

Bachelor’s degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of volleyball concepts/strategies and NJCAA rules and regulations

Knowledge of physical conditioning techniques and weight training

Knowledge of basic statistics, recruiting skills, good written and verbal skills, leadership and motivational skills

Availability to work evenings and weekends and travel

Ability to assess talent and serve as a positive role model

Maintain working knowledge of and ensure compliance with Title IX and Clery Act Campus Safety Authority guidelines and responsibilities and related college procedures and expectations.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Assist head coach in running team practices, teaching offensive and defensive concepts

Oversee drills, provide one-on-one instruction, assist player development

Perform recruiting related activities, contact high school players through written or verbal means of communication.

Travel to various high schools or clubs to scout games, assess the skills and abilities of potential student athletes, view and assess high school/club game film.

Assist with making travel arrangements for the team and coaching staff for games played at other institutions.

Assist in overseeing the conditioning and weight training program

Perform other duties assigned

Experience

Coaching experience (high school or college), or collegiate playing experience
