Position Summary

Coordinates the work within the team under the direction of the Supervisor while performing core work tasks.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

•Supports supervisor in ongoing technical and safety training
•Schedules and coordinates daily work assignments in conjunction with supervisor.
•Responsible for equipment and supply requisition.
•Responsible for identifying damage and missing items from assigned areas and reports such to supervisor.
•Reports all safety hazards and works in conjunction with supervisor to provide a safe work environment.
•Monitors Events Reports to oversee completion of set ups for events.
•Facilitates the daily work in coordination with the supervisor and provides status updates.
•Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
•Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures.
•Acts as a liaison between building occupants and supervisor.
•Maintains established schedules and standards.

General Responsibilities

•Spray-buffs the floors on a routine cycle and periodically scrubs, strips, and applies coats of seal/finish to floors. Shampoos floors on a routine cycle.
•Operates and maintains equipment such as steam machines, pressure washers, autoscrubbers, buffers, wet vacs, sweepers and shampooers.
•Prepares daily work order log.
•Assists in major cleanup following parties, events and/or in emergency situations.
•Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
•Helps with special projects and setups.
•Washes windows.
•May provide input on team member’s evalutations.
•Interacts appropriately with the customer.
•Supports the College’s Recycling program.
•Identifies damage and missing items from buildings and reports to such to supervisor.
•Responsible for cleaning up any blood spills/accidents using proper procedures.
•Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.
•Assists with campus snow removal.
•Delivers and picks up materials, furniture and equipment to/from various locations.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational background preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products and equipment. Knowledge of safe lifting procedures and techniques. Knowledge of basic equipment operation.
•Organizational skills required. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of regular weekly shift. Must have the ability to work some overtime.
•Able to follow written and oral instructions.
•Able to establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, fellow workers, students, faculty and the rest of the College staff.
•May be required to work independently. Able to follow a schedule.
•Must be able to work overtime or on weekends as required.

Experience

Custodial and floor care experience preferred, proven organizational experience preferred.
