Position Summary

The Associate Director will support the MiddCORE Faculty Director in the development, execution, and vision of the MiddCORE Innovation and Leadership program. The Associate Director will manage all MiddCORE logistical operations throughout the year, aid in curricular development, and maintain responsibility for the management of the MiddCORE budget. The Associate Director will help foster a culture of leadership and innovation at Middlebury and within the greater educational community to help retain Middlebury’s position as a leader in the entrepreneurship space within higher education. In addition, the Associate Director will collaborate with the Innovation Hub Program Director to help shape the Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Social Entrepreneurship by ensuring that MiddCORE programming aligns with the Center’s overall mission.


Essential Functions

The Associate Director (AD) will oversee all day-to-day MiddCORE operations, budget, admissions, and financial aid processes throughout the year and will work to identify and implement operational efficiencies throughout the center by working collaboratively with other offices on and off-campus. The AD will also serve as the primary MiddCORE operations liaison for the winter term program as well as off-campus summer program.
Assist the MiddCORE Faculty Director with the development of the strategic direction of MiddCORE. Responsible for the management of overall systems and people supporting MiddCORE operations, admissions, financial aid, and expenses for all MiddCORE programming as well as the long-term strategy for the MiddCORE program and how it fits within the Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Social Entrepreneurship.
The AD has full-time responsibility for the hiring, training and supervision of the MiddCORE interns.
Manage the MiddCORE budget.
Academic Programming:
Assist the MiddCORE Faculty Director in the curricular development of MiddCORE programs.
External Relations:
Develop partnerships in the entrepreneurial community that will better enable Middlebury students to engage with the world. This includes outreach and collaboration with innovative organizations as well as outreach to individuals within the academic community beyond Middlebury College. Maintain relations with mentors, students, parents, alumni, and donors. The Associate Director should seek out individuals for mentorship cultivation and strategic partnerships for MiddCORE and overall Innovation Hub programming. Collaborate with the MiddCORE/Innovation Hub Director of Marketing and Communications and the Center’s Program Director to develop communications campaigns to recruit faculty, mentor, parent, donor, and student participation in MiddCORE and Innovation Hub programming.
Internal Relations:
Reach out to the faculty and staff communities at Middlebury College to develop alliances and increase faculty and staff understanding of MiddCORE and Innovation Hub programs.
Support, as needed, the other programs that fall under Innovation Hub.

General Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or 3 or more years of relevant experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Interest in leadership education, innovation, and social entrepreneurship. Knowledge of the MiddCORE program strongly desired. Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills needed. Ability to establish priorities, take initiative, and work independently. Ability to work successfully with students, parents, MiddCORE mentors, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and constituencies external to the College. Ability to motivate and direct student interns.
Willingness and ability to travel and to run programs outside the Middlebury College main campus. One month of summer travel required.
