Reporting to the Title IX coordinator, the deputy Title IX coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of the Title IX Office to ensure Emerson College’s compliance with

relevant sexual misconduct and equal opportunity laws, and foster a welcoming, safe, non-discriminatory, and harassment-free educational, living, and working environment for all members of the Emerson community. The deputy Title IX coordinator assists with the coordination, response, investigation, and resolution of reports/complaints asserting violations of the College’s Title IX policies.
The deputy Title IX coordinator manages and oversees the initial intake of reports to
ensure a well-documented, prompt, and fair response; investigates allegations related to
sex-based discrimination, discriminatory harassment and misconduct; communicates with parties while protecting the independence, neutrality, integrity and privacy of the investigation; composes comprehensive written investigative reports; and advises leadership on potential risk exposure associated with reports investigated.

Primary Duties, Responsibilites, and TasksRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)

Masters or J.D degree and Title IX Certification of Completion for any Title IX training completed in the last year.

Previous experience conducting Title IX related investigations or investigations related to other forms of discrimination.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)

Experience working effectively within a diverse community and the ability to relate to the student community.
Expertise about ways that trauma can impact individuals’ memory and demeanor, and recognition of the complexities surrounding sexual assault, sexual harassment, and intimate partner violence cases in a university or college setting.
