Job Summary

We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Director – Running Start

Running Start is an opportunity for qualified students to take college courses during their junior and senior of high school. Successful completion of a course through Running Start enables a student to earn both high school and college credit. The Director of Running Start oversees, directs, and manages the Running Start program, including staff supervision, and in accordance with the mission and goals of Eastern Washington University. The Director is responsible for ensuring the program delivers information and support services in a professional and cordial manner, and efficiently assist students, faculty and staff, who come in contact with the program offices. This is a 12-month full time position which reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost of Eastern’s Outreach and Engagement.

In addition to oversight and management of the Running Start program, this position directs and manages the development of partnerships between the University and Washington State high schools, and between the University and the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The Director is responsible for identifying academic programs and delivery methods for related programs, including Dual Enrollment.The Director will assist in the coordination of marketing of the programs; will plan and manage faculty development for the Dual Enrollment program; and plan for and manage enrollment procedures for participating students in all of the related programs. The Director of Running Start serves as a primary university representative to other initiatives associated with high school instruction and curriculum. This position is responsible for ensuring that university and program policies and procedures for its programs and are in compliance with state and federal regulations along with Eastern’s national accreditation through National Alliance of Current Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Social Sciences
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ of combined experience Teaching, Counseling, and Educational management in the K-12 system
    OR
  • Master’s degree AND Educational Leadership Experience
  • Sound Knowledge of student development and sensitivity to issues and needs of students from low-income, diverse ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience with program development, evaluation, budgeting, fiscal management, and human resource management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems and Banner
  • Strong leadership and supervision skills with a proven ability to manage, guide a team, and lead a complex department
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, interpret, evaluate, and apply university and state rules, regulations, and policies
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

  • Experience with a Running Start or Dual Credit type programs
