The Department of Political Science and the International Studies Program at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invite applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in International Relations, to join our community in August 2020. The position carries a teaching load of three courses per semester divided between Political Science and the interdisciplinary International Studies Program. A PhD by the time of appointment is required. Completed applications received by September 13, 2019 will receive full consideration, but the position will remain open until filled.
The successful candidate will show promise as a teacher and scholar of International Relations, ideally in the areas of international conflict, national security, foreign policy, the democratic peace, or international norms. Candidates should also identify the International Studies specialization to which they could best contribute (see https://internationalstudies.tcnj.edu/). The successful candidate will excel in the classroom in part by integrating scholarship and teaching.
The Political Science Department and the International Studies Program collaborate closely and form a dynamic community of scholars and students. The Department has seven tenured or tenure-track members (and is conducting searches this year for two additional tenure-track positions) who teach and mentor roughly 180 majors. The International Studies Program draws on faculty from Political Science, History, World Languages and Cultures, the School of Business and other academic units to offer nine specialized tracks of study for about 130 majors. Both units also offer minors that draw students from across a wide range of academic disciplines.
