Knox College seeks a technologically-savvy, resourceful, and driven individual to join the newly established Student Financial Services team. Members of our team work with prospective and current students and their parents, assisting them in applying for financial aid, managing the costs of college, and guiding them toward successful completion of a Knox degree.

As the successful candidate, you would provide a full range of financial aid counseling services; analyze and verify financial aid applications; award financial aid based on federal, state, and institutional policies; participate in outreach activities both on- and off-campus; and assist families in managing the costs of college and ensuring timely payments. You will also play a key role in utilizing new technologies and leading initiatives to help us improve the delivery of financial aid, student billing, payment plans, and related services.

The following are the qualifications for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • At least three to five years of related experience in a financial aid office or equivalent experience in a higher education setting
  • Strong proficiency in the use of information technology and the delivery of online services; experience working in a paperless office is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply federal regulations
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and retention
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Willingness to work additional hours during peak financial aid processing and student billing seasons
  • An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education, respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and flexibility to adapt to constant change
  • Experience with Satisfactory Academic Progress standards is a plus
  • Experience with Return to Title IV calculations is a plus
  • Experience with the student accounts, billing, and payment process is a plus
