Compensation: Hourly Rate of $13.00 (Outsourced). Limited to no more than 25-30 hours per week.

Description:

Communications & Creative Services (CCS), SF’s main source for internal and external communications (online, in print, in person and in the media), is seeking a Social Media Specialist.

The Social Media Specialist will organize efforts to promote the college on digital media, including the college social media accounts, under a unified brand and communications strategy. This position is an integral part of the Communications & Creative Services team and collaborates with departments and units across the college.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Writing strategic, clear, creative and clean copy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the CCS team on creative direction for digital media campaigns in regards to photography, videography, animation and graphic design.
  • Developing visual content independently or integrating content from the CCS team.
  • Coordinating and posting original, engaging and branded content across all SF social media channels, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest and Twitter.
  • Using Hootsuite or equivalent software to manage social media accounts.
  • Producing weekly reports with digital and web analytics regarding success of social media campaigns.
  • Creating editorial calendars and syndication schedules for social content.
  • Working within budgets to optimize targeted digital media advertising campaigns.
  • Inspiring brand ambassadors across the college to share content, and helping to redirect digital media efforts that are clearly off-brand or inconsistent with the college communications plan.
  • Integrating the goals and strategies of college fundraising efforts through social media.
  • Producing metrics to measure success of digital media campaigns.
  • Listening across social media platforms for students needing to connect with admissions or advising staff members and helping them to do so.
  • Checking accounts daily for alerts and mentions, responding accordingly.
  • Checking college calendar for important dates to publicize.
  • Coordinating with the owners of social media accounts affiliated with the college and communicating best practices and branding strategies.
  • Interacting with students, faculty and staff to produce engaging content.
  • Providing service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Using project management software in coordination with other team members to track progress on departmental projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Communications & Creative Services

Qualifications:

Required: Associate’s degree or equivalent with two (2) years of experience working with digital and social media in a fast-paced marketing, public relations or fundraising-related environment. Social media experience must include a history of owning or moderating business or institutional accounts that have implemented advertising.

Other: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization.
