We are looking for a Data Analyst to join the Stanford Center for Education Policy Analysis (CEPA). Stanford CEPA is an independent research center in the Graduate School of Education that unites an interdisciplinary array of nationally prominent scholars on education policy. The Data Analyst will engage with Stanford faculty, students, and staff as well as external clients (e.g., district partners). A focus of CEPA's long-term research agenda is to examine policies that promote highly effective teachers and school leadership as well as better understand student achievement gaps. CEPA also looks at preschool through higher education policy in order to better understand how to promote educational opportunities and students' long-run success.

What You'll Do:

The Data Analyst will conduct data collection, lead data management, and support implementation of education-related research.

Core duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Collect, manage and clean datasets.
  

• Coordinate data collection processes between research teams and external district partners.
  

• Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.
  

• Create databases and reports, develop algorithms and statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.
  

• Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggest possible solutions.

• Analyze data processes in documentation.
  

• Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.
  

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs.
  

• Strong writing and analytical skills.
  

• Ability to prioritize workload.
  

Preferred Requirements:

• Demonstrated knowledge or interest in education research.
  

• Experience in quantitative data collection, management and analysis. Demonstrated familiarity with the organization of data, including data structures, record layouts, and file structures.
  

• Significant experience with the statistical software STATA. Proficiency with other statistical software is beneficial but the majority of work will be completed in STATA.
  

BACKGROUND CHECK: The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check prior to employment.

FIXED-TERM: This is a fixed-term position with an end date of one year and is renewable based on performance and funding.
