The laboratory of Dr. Judith Woodfolk in the Department of Medicine (Division of Allergy & Clinical Immunology) at the University of Virginia is seeking to hire a Research Scientist. This individual will perform cutting-edge research on the immune response to rhinovirus in humans.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and basic scientists focused on applying high dimensional immune profiling to fundamental questions related to protective and pathogenic aspects of immunity to rhinovirus. The position involves conducting experiments on a variety of immune cell types using specimens obtained using a human experimental infection model.
The candidate will be responsible for writing manuscripts, assisting in grant preparation, mentoring students, and presenting at national conferences.
Candidates must have a PhD in immunology or a related area and have a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Demonstrated expertise in cellular immunology and flow cytometry is required. Proficiency in high-dimensional flow cytometry, gene expression profiling, and associated computational tools/software/data management is preferred. A strong commitment to scientific research, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to work interactively within an interdisciplinary team are required.
