 IntroductionThe PhysicalTherapy Program and the RESTORE Team currently seek a Lab Program Manager atthe Senior Professional Research Assistant (Senior PRA) rank. This positionsupports the RESTORE team, a group focused on rehabilitation clinical trials toimprove rehabilitation outcomes for older adult populations, including peoplewith chronic disability, complex medical conditions, and/or total jointreplacement. 

 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe LabProgram Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for the RESTORE teamand Dr. Stevens-Lapsley. The position will liaise between the RESTORE team,staff/students, and faculty. Additionally, the position will research,prioritize, and follow up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to Dr.Stevens-Lapsley and determine appropriate course of action, referral, orresponse.

 The Lab ProgramManager will perform day-to-day duties to facilitate smooth operation ofRESTORE activities and will work closely and effectively with Dr.Stevens-Lapsley to keep her well informed of upcoming research commitments andresponsibilities. The position will assist the RESTORE team in developing newstudies, performing study-related duties, and working with the finance teamregarding proper hospital payments to assure proper funds flow. The positionwill require flexibility to accommodate to the timing of various deadlines andurgent needs.


The Lab Program Manager will prioritize conflicting needsand handle matters expeditiously and proactively. Duties include arranging andcoordinating research meetings, conferences and appointments; assisting withscheduling meetings, including arranging for space, notifying participants,preparing agendas and minutes and following up on all commitments to ensurethat necessary arrangements have been made; coordinating with administrativestaff to arrange travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and preparingdocuments for the study investigator including those of a confidential and/ortechnical nature.


The Lab Program Manager will perform advanced project work. Dutiesinclude: follow through on projects to successful completion; oversee the maintenance of study-relatedrecords for numerous investigations including consent forms, source documentworksheets within the overall data management system; develop appropriateprocesses of maintaining and updating study records and files as needed tocomply with the research protocol; independently respond to general inquiriesfrom study participants, staff, regulatory agencies and divisions; and independentlydraft correspondence and communications including memos, emails and reports asrequested by the study investigator.

 The Lab Program Manager will secure,assemble, and summarize information from research files, documents in theoffice, or other available sources for use by the staff.  The position will organize the information,develop reports, and highlight the most important portions for the staff.Additionally, duties include inputting data into a number of electronicdatabases which might include: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, WORD, PowerPoint,Access, REDCap and other databases. The Lab Program Manager is expected toextract data to prepare reports, sort and summarize data elements, and manipulatethe data by performing statistical queries that are pre-programmed or are builtwithin lab software.


The positionoversees the study team’s recruitment of participants, scheduling testingsessions, assisting with participant testing, coordinating with theInstitutional Review Board (IRB) review and approval, conducting clinical trialregistration, managing data collection and participant payment process,compiling data for inclusion in publications and reports, ordering supplies,preparing safety officer reports, and assisting with general study management.

 The Lab Program Manager will manage implementation, control,and reporting on participant research tests. Furthermore, the position will assistthe research team with test performance as needed and will maintain records andprepare project administrative and statistical reports as needed. The LabProgram Manager is responsible for drafting and maintaining all documentationrequired for the outcome measurement for the studies.

Salaryand Benefits

The hiring salary is commensurate with skills and experience.  This position is not eligible for overtimecompensation.

Minimum QualificationsMaster’sdegree (or greater) required
