General Summary

The Department of Leadership and Counseling is seeking applicants for a doctoral fellow position from students admitted to the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at EMU. The position will begin in August of 2021. Doctoral fellows work under the guidance of one or more faculty in the department. Doctoral fellows are expected to work a 20 hours per week and perform a mixture of services in support of faculty teaching and research as (50% of time) and teaching/administering in the LEADership Minor (40% of time) and (10% other duties as assigned). Other departmental related duties as required.

Work directly with one or more faculty supporting teaching and research activities.
Doctoral fellows have teaching responsibilities in the LEADership minor (Fall and Winter)
Engage with supporting various aspects of the daily implementing and administering of the minor including and not limited to (meetings with LEAD team, building campus partnerships, responding to student inquiries, actively represent LEAD minor within and outside EMU)
Assist in the support of the affairs of the LDCN department, including program level responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Eligibility
Admission and enrollment in the Educational Leadership doctoral program
Ability to work 20 hours per week during typical business hours for the academic year
Maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required.
Enrollment in a minimum of six credit hours if appointed Fall and Winter semesters, and one credit for the Summer semester
Applicants must have strong writing and interpersonal skills

Benefits

Students are eligible to receive a tuition waiver (which includes up to 23 credit hours of tuition waiver over an academic year). Funding for a doctoral fellow can be renewed on a yearly basis up to the maximum of 8 academic semesters (or 4 years)

Doctoral fellows receive a monthly financial stipend (Fall and Winter Term) totalling $16,000
for the academic year.

Doctoral Fellows receive library privileges and a 10% discount on items purchased at the bookstore in the Student Center.
Doctoral Fellows receive priority registration
