Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for a temporary part-time Academic Support Coordinator at our Exton campus.

The Academic Support Coordinator, Pathway Programs works with the DE Pathway students to support student success, completion and retention through direct work with DE students who are enrolled in a structured pathway of selected courses leading toward a certificate or associate degree. Responsibilities for this position will encompass identifying and supporting services to assist students in being successful in their Pathway courses. This individual will work one-on-one with students to monitor progression through the program and help each student balance the demands of college as well as high school. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Dual Enrollment, DE Pathway Coordinators and Directors, Branch Campus Operations.

Hours: 8:00 am - 1:30 pm (Monday - Friday)
Flexible hours for evening programs and services on an as needed basis.

Duties

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: -

  • Facilitate and support academic success and progression for DE students in an identified Pathway cohort.
  • Engage students, one-on-one and as a group to help them manage balance the demands of college and high school.
  • Facilitate student participation in events that will increase their level of academic success.
  • Participate in the delivery of Pathways orientation programs and information sessions, on the college campus and/or at the participating high schools.
  • Assess tutoring and mentoring resources to enhance student success.
  • Coordinate transition programing in junior and senior year to offer and educate dual enrollment students about the value of continuing at the College.
  • Be available to meet with parents and students as necessary.
  • Schedule monthly open times to be available for students to touch base about their progress and identify any obstacles to their success.
  • Provide timely responses to prospective students, parents and other interested parties concerning the Pathway programs and services of the DE Pathways programs. Responses include e-mail, telephone and in-person contacts.
  • Seek and use data to monitor effectiveness; measure outcomes; and adapt process, procedures, and activities accordingly.
  • Develop a data base to track student program completion, credential attainment, and data related to enrollment activities.
  • Assist the Directors of Dual Enrollment and High School Initiatives and the Directors, Branch Campus Operations by providing data and outcomes to both the College and high school partners.
  • Work closely with the Directors, Branch Campus Operations, coordinating and participating in enrichment activities for the cohort students.
  • Use technology as appropriate to perform responsibilities and develop customer/student relationships
  • Attend DE Pathway meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have: -

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Degree should be in Education or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a community college setting preferred.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, written and verbal.
  • Relate to various populations including high school counselors, administrators, superintendents, students, parents, faculty, as well as, other College personnel.
  • Ability to establish relationships with high school counselors and represent the College in public settings.
  • Ability to present to individuals and groups.
  • Work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Prioritize and handle multiple tasks, strong organization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and social media applications.
  • Skill in records maintenance and report preparation
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Able to travel to multiple sites as required.

Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearances
Applicants are required to either present to human resources current and valid PA Act 153 clearances or be able to obtain them expediently.
