Establishment of Department Pool for Affiliate/Part-Time Instructors of Nutrition NUTPT1.
Qualified applicants will be placed in the departmental pool and will be considered for part-time departmental needs beginning Fall 2019 through Spring 2022.

Duties/Responsibilities

Teach 1 or more credit hours. Be available for consultation with students. Will work and interact with diverse groups of individuals. Areas to be taught include: UNDERGRADUATE NUTRITION: Introduction to Nutrition, Cultural Aspects of Nutrition, Nutrition Concepts and Controversies, Concepts of Lifecycle Nutrition, Nutrition & Weight Management, Nutrition & Sports Performance, Advanced Human Nutrition-Macronutrients, Advanced Human Nutrition – Micronutrients, Community Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy and Lifecycle Nutrition; and GRADUATE NUTRITION: Macronutrients in Health and Disease; Vitamins, Minerals, and Bioactive Compounds in Health and Disease; Maternal and Child Nutrition; Programmatic and Systematic Prevention Approaches; Nutrition Research Practicum and others.

Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach at the graduate and/or undergraduate level on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, usually on a semester by semester basis. Affiliate Faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. An Affiliate faculty member’s duties include: meeting assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with university, college, and department policies; providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordination policies; being available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment and complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.

Candidates need to be sensitive to the educational needs of students from a diverse population, conduct student assessments as prescribed by the curriculum, and must be willing to adhere to policies and procedures regarding students and faculty as established by the University and Department. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field to teach undergraduate level courses. Doctorate in Nutrition or related field is required to teach graduate level courses.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two years of teaching experience relevant to one or more of the content areas.
2. Previous experience in teaching in an online environment.
3. Experience with diverse, historically underrepresented and/or first generation college students.
