The LaFetra College of Education at the University of La Verne invites applications for a non tenure track (NTT) faculty working as lead regional faculty for the Teacher Education programs. The role is expected to contribute primarily through administrative work and teaching. Administrative functions include advising of students, supporting adjunct faculty, ensuring successful delivery of the program at their respective campus locations, and promoting the program in their respective regions. The lead regional faculty performs all duties and maintains all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.

Specific Duties

Administrative Duties

  • Coordinates teacher education programs at designated regional campus for the purpose of supporting adjunct faculty, supervisors, and students and ensuring quality program implementation;
  • Be the first point of contact for any campus issues or concerns, assisting adjunct faculty, supervisors, and students with problem solving;
  • Coordinate with academic advisors with scheduling of new cohorts and courses for the designated regional campus;
  • Assists with academic advising of students (support during application process, orientation process, and initial and ongoing advising);
  • Assists with recruitment of students;
  • Coordinates where appropriate or participate in Student Study Team meetings or other interventions as needed for students;
  • Coordinates with Director of Clinical Teaching Fieldwork to ensure quality implementation of fieldwork at the designated regional campus and assist with delivery of training for regional supervisors;
  • Assigns fieldwork and student teaching placements for all students enrolled in the program;
  • Facilitates student teaching experiences, including provision of orientation and training sessions related to Teacher Performance Assessments and other topics as needed for successful completion of student teaching;
  • Completes appropriate data collection processes as needed for program review and accreditation purposes and CTC mandates;
  • Assists with intern credential application process;
  • Works with respective campus director to support marketing and branding of the LaFetra College of Education teacher education programs in the region;
  • Develops community partnerships through attendance at community events, support for district induction programs, and program promotion and recruitment in local districts;
  • Maintains regular contact and communication with other lead regional faculty and main campus faculty;
  • Attends monthly program meetings at the main campus;
  • Attends other program and college-level meetings, both face-to-face and virtually.

Teaching

  • Teaches at assigned regional campus;
  • Teaches four courses per year (including supervised teaching courses);
  • Keeps up with developments in the field of study;
  • Demonstrates high standards, both academic and professional;
  • Evaluates student work constructively and provides timely feedback
  • Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the students in learning
  • Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and respond to inquiries in a timely manner;
  • Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials;
  • Develops and uses a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guidelines.

Professional Development

  • Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities;
  • Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises teaching methods through a process of self-reflection;
  • Participates in annual growth plan process for the LaFetra College of Education;
  • Meets or exceeds professional standards and discipline-specific requirements, as appropriate to the discipline.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Valid K-12 Teaching credential
  • 3-years K-12 teaching experience
  • Experience in teaching and/or working with adult learners
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Education or related field
  • Teaching experience in an urban setting
  • Bilingual in Spanish, or other languages common in California’s student demographics
