Preferred QualificationsPosition SummaryThis position is for an experienced academic advisor who will provide leadership for the academic advising program for Intended Grady students. This lead advisor position is housed in the Exploratory Center but the program is coordinated closely with Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Duties of this position include: maintaining updated information on Grady majors; training and organizing the advisors in the group to deliver effective advising appointments during an academic year, including those held during new student Orientation; developing supplementary advising resources; maintaining databases of students to ensure appropriate load distribution among advisors and accurate records of students in various stages of the Grady application process; overseeing SAGE management for the advising group; advising a student roster of fluctuating size in order to meet changing needs within the office, especially during periods of staff transition; and serving on the Exploratory Center operations team led by the coordinator. Work is reviewed under administrative supervision and may include collaboration with the Exploratory Center coordinator to define the duties and deliverables of the advising group.

Knowledge of course offerings and requirements of a Grady major intention;

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the EC Lead Intended Grady Advisor are to meet with assigned students, provide each student with accurate information about the student’s intended degree program, make recommendations about course selection for upcoming semesters, generate advising forms detailing these recommendations, maintain notes about these meetings, assist and provide campus referrals to students who are having difficulties, and respond in a timely manner to students’ questions in person and via email.
Percentage of time70 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/ResponsibilitiesAdministrative tasks to be performed under the direction of the EC coordinator include training and observing new advisors within the group, managing data collection and interpretation, maintaining data integrity and student records, assigning and monitoring advising loads for the group, assisting in hiring for the group, serving on the EC operations team in order to develop and implement office wide strategic goals, mentoring other EC advisors, and utilizing professional competencies to expand and elevate advising for Intended Grady students. Other duties as assigned.
Percentage of time15 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/ResponsibilitiesProfessional development responsibilities include regular attendance at staff meetings, EC operations team meetings, and campus professional development opportunities. Committee work within the office or advising community may also be expected, although frequency and duration may vary.
