Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor; Mass Comm, Journalism & Digital Media Production

Job description

The Department of Communications at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Mass Communication – Journalism & Digital Media Production, beginning Fall 2020. An earned doctorate in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a closely related field is required. (ABDs will be considered but the degree must be completed by the time of appointment).

Priority will be given to candidates who have demonstrated knowledge of communication law, communication ethics, freedom of expression, and media literacy. An established research agenda is strongly preferred, and professional experience in print, digital, audio or video journalism is desired.

Assigned courses may include Communication Law and Ethics, Communication in a Global Age, Media Writing, and other communication courses as determined by the Department Chair.

The candidate will teach a 3-3 load and will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintain an appropriate level of scholarly activity, and contribute service sufficient to secure tenure and promotion in the Department of Communications.
