GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is dedicated to attracting, enrolling, retaining, and graduating veteran and international students from point of prospect, inquiry, application, orientation, registration, continued enrollment, and on to completion. The position coordinates recruitment efforts for prospective veteran and international students for all LSSC campuses and online. Responsible for monitoring and supporting the students utilizing veteran education benefits and international students to ensure they maintain academic standards and have the support they need while enrolled. Responsible for reporting to federal agencies regarding veterans and international students. Maintains positive relationships with staff from the Department of Veteran Services, the Department of Homeland Security, local veterans groups, businesses, and community organizations. The Coordinator will offer programming geared towards veteran success and support grant-related efforts focused on Veterans and International students. This position requires regular travel to all three LSSC campuses and occasional scheduled night and weekend commitments. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core value of Service Excellence; respect, competence, responsiveness, and collaboration, in all interactions.

Position reports to: Director of Enrollment Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:      Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required.  Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.

EXPERIENCE:     Required: Minimum of two years of related work experience in a customer service area.

                              Preferred: Minimum one year work experiences in one or more of the following areas, Admissions, Records, Advising, Student Life, Residential Life, Veteran Affairs, or International Student Services; demonstrated experience with data entry.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Coordinates all admissions, records, and registration processes according to regulations pertaining to students utilizing veteran education benefits and International students.

2.Communicates and interprets Department of Veteran Affairs and Department of Homeland Security regulations as they apply to prospective, current, and former students. Responsible for electronically certifying student’s eligibility for VA and International benefits each academic semester. Works closely with assigned VA staff as appropriate.

3.Responsible for monitoring and supporting the students utilizing veteran education benefits and international students to ensure they maintain academic standards and have the support they need while enrolled.

4.Develops and implements programming geared towards veteran success. Will work in partnership with Accessibility Services, Career Services, Student Life, Financial Aid, LSSC Foundation, and Academic Advising. Support grant-related efforts focused on Veterans and International students.

5.Champions student organization(s) that support veteran students.

6.Responsible for assisting incoming transient students and processing their applications.

7.Responsible for maintaining the Veterans Lounge/Center on both the Leesburg and South Lake campuses.

8.Provides back-up assistance and support to the Admissions and Records staff including departmental projects and initiatives.

9.Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be able to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.  Good communication skills.  Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds; demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to prioritize and work well where time constraints are involved.  Ability to handle multi-tasked office environment. Ability to demonstrate the four College Service Excellence Standards of respect, competence, responsiveness and collaboration when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.    

WORKING CONDITIONS:  

General office environment.

Financial Accountability:  Direct:  None.  Indirect:  $20K
