Job Summary / Basic Function

Due to the growth of the Associate of Arts degree and Early College High School Partnerships with Beaumont Independent School District and Silsbee Independent School District, the General Education/Developmental Studies Department announces openings for adjunct instructor positions. Instructors who are willing to teach face-to-face and/or online sections are needed for all areas listed below:

• Government
• Economics
• Math
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Sociology
• Psychology
• English

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for teaching courses at the assigned Early College High School and Lamar Institute of Technology campuses. This position reports directly to the Department Chair for General Education/Developmental Studies. Hours vary depending on need and course schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach courses as scheduled
• Maintain one office hour per week/per course.
• Attend adjunct faculty meetings
• Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
• Complete Basic Blackboard Certification
• Complete Title IX training
• Must have reliable transportation for travel to assigned instructional sites
• Attend Teaching and Learning Center to upgrade teaching skills
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED:
• Masters Degree in the subject area or a Masters Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the subject area.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Ethical and professional behavior
• Awareness of national issues and trends in education and related field
• Ability to use computers for email, word documents and basic spreadsheets

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential functions of this job, work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office environment with moderate noise.

• Experience teaching in a technical or community college
• Experience teaching in Secondary Education
