Residential Case Manager

Job Purpose
Towson University is accepting applications for a Residential Case Manager. This position is responsible for providing support, assistance, and follow-up to critical incidents related to residential students in distress, their ability to successfully manage living in a university residence hall environment, and the associated impact on the larger residential community that houses approximately 5,900 students. Collaborate with Housing and Residence Life staff in support of the conduct and CARE process. In consultation and coordination with the Manager of Student Case Management, the Residential Case Manager will consult with college academic officers, health care providers, parents, and student affair colleagues when supporting residential students. Support student success and retention through cultivating intentional partnerships across campus.

Description

Supporting Students in Distress
This position works with residential students regarding the bereavement procedures, medical absences and withdrawals; provide faculty notifications; assist with updating records and monitoring the public and HRL submitted reports in the Symplicity Advocate CARE database system; utilize the Student Success Collaborative Grades First system to identify students at risk and provide outreach; meet with and provide follow up to students of concern to connect them with resources; support the administration of initiatives to address food insecurity on campus; serve as a representative to the CARE Team; and track monthly trends within the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

Student Success and Retention
Works in collaboration with Financial Aid, Academic Advising and Academic Achievement to support the retention and re-enrollment of residential students through intentional outreach and marketing efforts.

Database Management
Serve as the technical support for the Advocate/Symplicity database which includes running reports, creating/updating user profiles, inputting all student data, updating letters and templates and serve as a liaison to Simplicity. Manages both student conduct and CARE systems within Advocate.

Training and Development
Facilitate sessions for student and professional staff focused on best practices in conduct and CARE, emerging trends, use of Advocate system, submitting incident/CARE reports.

Collaboration
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Office of Student Conduct and Civility Education. Serve as a member for the Restorative Practices steering committee.

Assessment
Pulling reports, end of year reporting from department to the division, ensuring quality control, retention and re-enrollment trends, GPA reports, and assessment of the CARE process.

Qualifications

Master's degree and five years of experience. The selected candidate must have an understanding of student development in the college environment and a commitment to student advocacy; experience working with the residential student population; demonstrated administrative and organizational skills; experience supporting student success and retention; experience with student conduct to include knowledge of current practices such as restorative practices; evidence of establishing effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff; experience working with a diverse population of students; exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills; ability to resolve disputes; and work efficiently, meet deadlines, and respond to emerging problems and crises.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Counseling, Conflict Resolution, Social Work, or related field.
  • Familiarity with Advocate Symplicity for CARE and Conduct processes.
