The Chairperson is one of three Chairs that report to the Dean of the School of Nursing. The Chairperson provides academic leadership for the School of Nursing Programs.. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

    Facilitates development and implementation of curriculaCommunicates with full-time and part-time faculty on curriculum and instruction matters and ensures ongoing development of staffEnsures that School of Nursing programs are in compliance with Florida Department of Education and Nursing Education Accreditation Manages program resourcesSecures additional resources to support the programs through grant-writing, partnerships, contributions, and sponsorshipsMaintains data to support systematic program evaluationTeaches at least one course within the discipline per academic yearHires, evaluates, and supervises full and part-time personnelSupervises facultyResolves issues and problems that may arise with faculty, staff, and studentsDevises and supervises student recruitment and retention effortsEnsures efficient and effective student advisementProvides support and advice in the collective bargaining process, and assures adherence to relevant areas of the collective bargaining agreementWorks closely with the Dean of the Benjamin Leon School of Nursing and Campus PresidentsServes as an integral member of College and Campus administrative teamsServes on program, Campus, and College policies, procedures, and guidelines Committees

    Florida License Registered Nurse or eligibility as a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Master’s degree in Nursing with five (5) years’ experience in Nursing, administrative experience and teaching college-level courses in an appropriate discipline or relevant clinical experience
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and polices and proceduresKnowledge and understanding of a wide range of instructional systems development, training methods, techniques, and formatsKnowledge of the requirements of accreditation agenciesExcellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse communitySkill in budget preparation and managementPossess computer application skillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
