DescriptionJob Purpose: Operate, maintain and troubleshoot components of boilers, steamheaters and associated support systems. This positions generally functions atthe Journeyman level of expertise within most areas of this specialty.

 Major Responsibilities:
  • Operate, inspect clean and maintain components of boilers, hot and domestic water and condensate systems including pressure vessels, pumps, motors, piping valves, strainers and controls.
  • Operate inspect, clean and maintain components of natural gas and/or propane fueled burner and supply systems including pumps, piping, valves, filters and controls.
  • Operate, inspect and clean components of pneumatic and electronic control systems.
  • Operate, inspect and maintain components of air compressor system.
  • May be required to operate and maintain building systems, machine tools, maintenance equipment, motor vehicles, hand/power tools, electrical/electronic instrumentation and light equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma.
  • Work Experience: Three to four years job related experience.
  • Certifications: Georgia Fourth Class Boiler License; Valid Georgia Driver's License.
  • Skills: This job requires Journeyman level skill in operation, cleaning, inspection, adjustment, repair/replacement, calibration/testing, and troubleshooting of static components of steam heaters and associated support systems. Basic skills are required in maintenance of other components and for operation and/or maintenance of computers, controls, electrical systems, utility services; and, reading drawings and schematics.

  • AdditionalInformation: May require handling ofhazardous materials and working in areas near rotating machinery, liveelectrical wiring, high-pressure liquids and gases and heated surfaces. Mayrequire lifting objects up to 75 pounds , working in confined spaces, exposureto high noise levels, climbing ladders and standing/walking on scaffolding. Mayrequire work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Wearing of full-facerespirator may be required.
