Alumnae and Donor Communications Coordinator

Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Alumnae and Donor Communications Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Alumnae Relations, the coordinator develops, supports, and executes strategic communications for alumnae and donors that advance the mission, goals, and image of Hollins University. The comprehensive communications strategy includes electronic media, e-mail communications, print communications, web pages, and a variety of social media platforms. This position ensures a consistent and coordinated flow of timely, engaging content for distribution across the print and digital media landscapes which inspires donor confidence, promotes philanthropy, and supports the alumnae engagement initiative. The coordinator works closely with the university Marketing office on creating communication plans and ensuring that messaging adheres to university brand guidelines and practices.

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in communications or related field; minimum of three years of experience in communications; proficiency with Microsoft Office; and excellent writing, proofreading, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Candidates must also have demonstrated skills using InDesign suite and WordPress, and proficiency with and knowledge of best practices of all electronic and social media platforms including, but not limited to, maintenance of web information, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, YouTube, and SnapChat. Applicants must also have abilities to manage projects, meet deadlines, respond to opportunities quickly and accurately, interpret and utilize data to make decisions, work effectively with internal and external constituencies, and maintain confidentiality and exhibit discernment related to confidential and sensitive matters. Preferred candidates will have experience in higher education or a non-profit setting, working with and recruiting volunteers, and creating multimedia assets, as well as knowledge of Ellucian Banner or a similar database.
