Director of Sports Medicine July 25th 2019

Allegheny College, a member of the NCAA Division III and North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), is currently seeking applications for a Director of Sports Medicine. This is a full-time, 12- month exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package. The Director is one of a four member staff working with in cooperation with a team doctor and the health services professional team.

Qualifications include: NATA-BOC Certified and CPR and First Aid certified. Must be BOC certified and licensed or eligible to hold a license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Instructor rating in CPR and First Aid would be beneficial. A commitment to DIII athletics and liberal arts educational philosophy, an ability to work with a highly motivated group of coaches, excellent communication, organization, and technological skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, ability to supervise/manage young professionals, student staff and respond to student needs, and commitment to sport and gender equity within a rigorous academic environment. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with football and have at least five years of significant athletic training service at the collegiate level. Bachelor’s degree is required and a Masters is highly preferred.

The Director is a member of the athletics senior administrative team, serves as the NCAA athletics health care administrator, and will oversee a full range of athletic training services for 23 Division III varsity teams. Duties include but are not limited to preventive, emergency and rehabilitative medical care, practice and game coverage; lead all administrative aspects of training room operation including budget oversight, equipment and inventory, insurance claims, planning and management of physical screenings, development of training sessions for student first aid providers, supervision of students and student staff and participation in other departmental assignments. Secondary duties will be assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
