The Research Specialist will provide analysis of samples generated in the lab to facilitate development of BEH (Bio-engineered heparin) as well as supporting the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. The successful candidate will perform various analytical tests, conduct analysis of data collected, and write up experimental results.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field

Preferred Qualifications

•Master’s Degree in Analytical chemistry or related field
•Two or more years of analytical laboratory experience
•Experience in industry (biochemical, pharmaceutical or related field) is preferred

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Computer literacy, including ability to use a variety of software packages to analyze data and perform statistical analysis
•Ability to collect and record data using appropriate field specific systems, equipment and techniques
•Ability to set up and conduct sound experimental procedures
•Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data
•Ability to communicate statistical data in a clear, concise manner
•Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
•Ability to understand and follow directions; must be able to work closely with others
•Analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills
•Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines
•Knowledge of and ability to pay strict attention to research protocol
•Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations or people

Work is performed in normal office conditions, and in applicable laboratory environment. Occasional outdoor travel between campus locations is required. Work is fast paced and demanding, and subject to irregular hours.
