Job Description:


State University of New York, Empire State College is currently seeking a Multimedia Designer. The Multimedia Designer is a professional position that will work collaboratively with instructional design and educational technology teams to design and develop successful custom multimedia content. The Multimedia Designer will design and develop a variety of graphics, animations, videos, digital content and presentation materials to enhance academic courses. Responsibilities include:


  • Collaborate with project leads, instructional designers and educational technologists on multiple projects to deliver effective and engaging multimedia content for delivery in LMS, e-Learning and other modalities
  • Designs and develops multimedia content, applications and interactive objects using design and development and/or professional audio/video editing software
  • Utilizes best practices and standards to guide design, usability and accessibility of all assigned development projects
  • Works closely with Instructional Design team to assure course media represents best practices in education, aligns with course objectives and optimizes student engagement in a digital learning environment
  • Stays current with multimedia appealing to SUNY ESC college populations in order to produce engaging educational and explainer videos, interactions, and other learning objects
  • Foster a culture of educational technology innovation by assisting with the identification, piloting, and support of new tools
  • Flexibility in relation to changing deadlines and project priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a deadline driven environment





Requirements:



Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Instructional Design, or related field, preferred
  • 1 to 2 years' work experience
  • Must be technically savvy and fluent in the use of a variety of instructional technologies and eLearning authoring tools, including Adobe Creative Suite; Adobe Presenter; Kaltura; tools for instructional videography; Articulate Storyline, and more.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design
  • Familiarity with and ability to implement ADA accessibility and media standards
  • Working knowledge integrating multimedia content within a learning management system

  • The location is open to our Downstate, Capital or Western New York State Regions; preference given to the Capital Region area
  • The incumbent will work closely with culturally diverse faculty, staff and students in a multicultural learning work environment


Rank/Salary: $50,000+ dependent on experience and qualifications
