Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science is seeking a talented Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications, to serve as the lead writer for all College communications, including print and digital content.

The Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications will effectively articulate ideas and concepts; be creative, accurate and productive while balancing projects and deadlines.

Position responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop content for news items (i.e. press releases, newsletters, and other appropriate means) regarding the College, its faculty, students, and events in an effort to elevate the College's profile in the local, regional and national community.
  • Assist with creation and distribution of marketing materials.
  • Manage writing and editing of digital newsletters, website content, and social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).
  • Assist with organization, logistics and marketing of events and programs.
  • Provide consistent, ongoing communications expertise and guidance to colleagues within the College.
  • Work with vendors, freelancers, and Public Affairs as appropriate to move communications and marketing initiatives forward.
  • Work with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, and others as required by the College and University.
  • Serve as lead writer and/or editor for a range of College materials including but not limited to newsletters/magazine, content pieces, posters, brochures, College fact book, high-level correspondence for the Dean, and other promotional/marketing materials, reports and publications.
  • Assist with the creation of original publications and coordinate external vendors for production, print, and mailing as needed.
  • Proactively produce, update and manage templates and boilerplate copy for all College initiatives and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years’ of appropriate experience required.

Master’s degree preferred.

Must possess exceptional written and oral communications skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines and manage projects from concept to completion.

Excellent editing skills and an understanding of how to inspire engagement across diverse audiences required.

Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment required.

Experience working directly with print vendors to ensure timely, accurate and cost effective production of materials preferred.

Experience with prioritizing and executing multiple projects preferred.

Experience with all facets of print projects and knowledge of designing for and updating Content Management Systems preferred.

Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms, and Associated Press stylebook.
