South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Custodian 2 in our Facilities Department. The hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to midnight, and Friday 1 to 9:30 p.m.

What You'll Do
As a Custodian 2, you will take part in team or group cleaning and event set-up responsibilities including:
- Disinfect and sanitize restrooms, shower rooms, fixtures, and equipment in classrooms, cafeterias, day care facilities, gymnasiums, auditoriums, offices, corridors, entranceways, elevators, stairways, etc. to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Clean white boards; dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers to outside dumpsters or compactors.
- Strip, scrub, apply floor finish, buff, and refinish hard surface floors; clean up spills on carpets, tile, and flooring.
- Perform exterior cleaning using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove debris or to sweep sidewalks or stairs.
- Contain and clean blood and bodily fluid using proper protective equipment.
- Detail cleaning including floors, ceilings, walls and corners using extension tools and heavy cleaning equipment such as buffing machines, scrubbers and waxers and carpet cleaning machines.
- Maintain custodial supplies and equipment in custodial rooms
- Transport custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
- Arrange equipment and furnishings to provide adequate arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events.
- Maintain inventories, simple reports, records, and forms.
- Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, supplies and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.
- Use Outlook and Megamations to communicate and view work orders.
- Check for and secure windows; report unlocked doors and unauthorized occupants to security.
- Act as a member of the Inclement Weather Team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The ability to do required work and the ability to read and write
AND
- Six months to one year experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.
- Valid Washington state driver's license.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to drive college vehicles.
- Ability to work on a ladder.
- Ability to physically perform essential duties.
- Ability to adhere to all safe work practices.
- Able to communicate well; complete routine job forms and incident reports; and/or communicate routine information regarding daily activities.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions.
- Ability to complete assignments without immediate supervision.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, cleaning methods, procedures, tools, equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
