DescriptionJob Purpose: Perform basic financial records maintenance and report preparationand reconciliation within the business area of an academic/research unit ornon-academic department. May coordinate those activities with other campusunits. Work may involve records, reports and proposals related to funding fromvarious sources, budgeting and accounting.

 Major Responsibilities:
  • Within an academic/research unit, assemble financial data related to proposals, grants and contracts, general appropriations, endowments and other funds.
  • May prepare data for use in budget amendments and other budget related reporting.
  • Collect, reconcile and audit monthly unit expense transactions.
  • Process travel requests to include review for accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Process payroll, time documents and personnel action forms.
  • May coordinate unit financial related actions with Institute financial units.
  • Post transactions to internal ledgers.
  • Generate check requests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work Experience: Up to two years of job related experience
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Skills: This job requires basic knowledge of and skill in applying general accounting principles and practices. Additionally required are attention to detail and accuracy and use of office and accounting related computer applications.

  • Preferred Skills: The ability to perform a wide variety of administrative duties including; verifying financial transactions, processing, completing, and verifying accuracy of documentation and forms, filing and copying documents, processing invoices, maintaining records, assisting with calendars and travel arrangements, assisting with preparation of documents and presentations for meetings, recording minutes, ordering and maintaining office supplies; The ability to work with a team in a collaborative manner; The ability to write and communicate in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner; A strong focus on customer service
