Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., may be required to work overtime and/or weekends to meet deadlines or in the event of an emergency.

The director of web and database systems is responsible to ensure that the university’s web systems and enterprise database infrastructure are well planned, engineered, coordinated, and managed to ensure good performance, reliability, and stability. Additionally, the director will provide leadership and ensure the team’s value alignment and transformation in web platforms and in the transition to Cloud. The role requires effective change leadership, collaboration between internal / external customers as well as with IT leadership peers. The individual will assist heavily in the ongoing operations of the administrative and enterprise systems organization including managing staff performance and budget forecasting. This role will embrace the university’s web policy and incorporate best practices in security across all areas of responsibility.

Education Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related area.

Experience Required10 years or moreType of Experience

- Verifiable record of accomplishment of maintaining stable systems and complex databases
- Experience managing administrative/business systems operations, budget forecasting, and infrastructure
- Experience managing web infrastructure and frameworks; including application servers, middleware and web applications (Drupal)
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and migrating to cloud databases
- Experience with data warehouse support including ETL and emerging cloud databases and the analytical tools above them
- Experience managing traditional on premise Oracle databases, implementing best practices and new features/technologies, and automating procedures/processes

Substitution for Experience Requirement

May substitute additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis in lieu of the experience requirement.

Experience Preferred

- Experience managing teams with the ability to work through organizational and staffing changes
- Strong understanding of and experience with cloud environments including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AWS and also emerging environments for the data warehouse
- Experience with hardware, operating systems as well as an in-depth experience with Oracle database and related technology
- Experience with above technology stack in the following environments: AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure
- Experience with Drupal and WordPress content management platforms in a Cloud environment
- Experience with GIT repositories and source code control
- Experience in Web frameworks including server side programming languages, backend databases, APIs, as well as front end UI technologies
- Experience with database software including cloud based databases, ETL and support for the data warehouse in emerging environments
- Experience managing enterprise level production databases 24×7, including backup, recovery, redundancy, encryption, upgrades, patch management, tuning, and security

License/Certification RequiredLicense/Certification PreferredSkills Required
