Position Summary

Big Bend Community College invites applications for Associate (part-time) Faculty positions in the college's Adult Education/English as a Second Language program. BBCC is a small rural community college located in the sunny, central part of Washington State, and is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Big Bend Community College serves approximately 4,000 students, with an annualized FTE of approximately 2,000, in a 4,600-square-mile service district including 15 communities in Grant and Adams counties and the Odessa School District in Lincoln County with on-site, online instruction, and interactive classrooms.

This position will teach English to adults. This position reports to the Dean of Transitional Studies and works closely with the Division Chair as well as other faculty and staff.

Associate Faculty receive quarterly contracts. Payment is based on $723.49/per lecture credit. Schedule varies, with positions in Moses Lake, Othello, Royal City, Warden, Soap Lake, Mattawa, George and Quincy.

Essential Job Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach English at all levels to adults.
• Meet with students to develop individualized goal sheets every quarter. Follow-up with students regarding goals throughout the quarter.
• Create daily lesson plans based on established curriculum and course outlines.
• Keep daily student attendance records and submit on a weekly basis. At the end of the quarter, submit a complete attendance report with signature for the quarter.
• Administer pre- & post-CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System) test on all students.
• Assess student performance for accreditation report for submission to the Division Chair.
• Attend all required trainings and meetings.

Minimum & Desirable Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor degree in Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience working with non-English speaking adults.
• Previous experience working directly with individuals from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience teaching English to non-native speakers.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
