The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is currently seeking a Research Associate to work in Dr. Imre Noth’s laboratory. The Research Associate will be involved in scientific studies mainly focused on the architectural structure and regulation of toll-interacting protein (TOLLIP) gene and its isoforms associated with the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) disease.
The qualified candidates must have a PhD and/or an MD in-hand with a background in Immunology, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related fields by the appointment start date and 1-2 years of post-doctoral experiences preferred.
The successful candidate should be highly motivated, independent, and creative, and possess a strong work ethic and critical thinking abilities and will be expected to keep up with the literature and participate in lab meetings. It is expected that the successful candidate is capable of conducting independent research including planning and setting up experiments, knowing, understanding, and being able to carry out necessary techniques; analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of obtained data with the goal of publishing. Qualified candidates will be granted with the opportunities to write grant proposals and abstracts for presentation at national meetings. Supervision of graduate and undergraduate students and staff in a collaborative manner is also required. Intellectual and technical help will be provided.
