Job Summary
The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2020. This is an exciting opportunity to join APA-accredited Clinical Psychology program. The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, & School). The Clinical Psychology doctoral program offers generalist training with concentrations in child clinical and adult clinical psychology. The area of specialization for this position is open. The doctoral program emphasizes research mentorship, diversity, and clinical training in evidence-based practices. Our faculty have established records of scholarship in the areas of suicide prevention, anxiety, mental health outcomes, personality assessment, youth risk behavior, and adult and child externalizing behavior. Doctoral students provide psychological services through an in-house training clinic, including assessment and treatment of children and adults. We aim to recruit applicants who will produce an impactful and extramurally funded line of research and who will emphasize training doctoral students to become productive and thoughtful scientists. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities to obtain post-doctoral supervision towards licensure (which includes mentorship, professional development) and/or to conduct and collaborate on research are available.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Developing and maintaining a strong independent program of research and directing student research.
2. Seeking extramural funding.
3. Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses including supervision of graduate level practicum courses in our in-house training clinic. Applicants are expected to seek licensure in the state of Mississippi.
4. Contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology (by August 2020) and completion of an APA-accredited predoctoral internship. License eligible in the state of Mississippi.
