Part-time Adjunct Faculty

Waubonsee Community College isaccepting applications for a part-time instructor for Developmental English(Integrated Reading and Writing) courses.

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for providing instruction and formatively and summativelyassessing student learning. This position requires a professional withexcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills as well as theability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhanceteaching and learning.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Adjunct Faculty prepare course syllabi anddesign lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address differentlearning styles and ensure that students successfully meet the courseobjectives and outcomes. They also incorporate learning centered principlesand concepts and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects ofthe educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for studentevaluation as well as timely and accurate reporting such as attendanceverifications, academic progress, and final course grades.

Successful Adjunct Faculty employ a holistic approach to student success, bringpassion and enthusiasm to the classroom, and are collaborative with studentsand colleagues. They work effectively and constructively with persons of diversecultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities. Demonstratesensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic,cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Fall 2019 position- applicant must have availability and specificexperience with one of the following classes:

Basic Integrated Reading/Writing 09:30-12:15 M, W

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in English, English Education or Reading from an accredited college required.

Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in English, English Education or Reading.

Experience teaching Developmental English at a community college or university.
