Reporting to the Director of the Small Business Development Center, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Associate, provides dependable and effective administrative support to the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Director and consultants. Assists SBDC Director to develop and implement center marketing strategy. Supports the SBDC to provide small business client services.Specific Duties
  • Provides dependable and effective administrative support to the SBDC Director and consultants.
  • Verifies invoices, process accounts receivable and accounts payable, make purchases, maintain equipment inventory, accept and deposits revenues.
  • Prepares management financial reports for review by the SBDC Director.
  • Schedules appointments, reserve meeting rooms, arrange for equipment, refreshments, meals and assist with registration duties at meetings and events.
  • Makes travel and hotel arrangements for staff, visitors, workshop speakers, etc.
  • Prepares contract and grant transmittal forms and track internal approvals.
  • Opens, sorts, screens and distributes daily mail and responds to routine correspondence.
  • PrepareS agendas, record minutes at SBDC meetings. Assist in developing student worker scheduling.
  • Assist SBDC Director to develop and implement center marketing strategy.
  • UpdateS and maintainS SBDC Wordpress website and social media outlets.
  • Assist in the development and publication of SBDC e-newsletters, client success stories and press releases.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of small business trainings.
  • Create, disseminate and analyze online client services surveys.
  • Acts as liaison between students, staff, Dean, community partners, small businesses.
  • Supports the SBDC Director and consultants to provide small business client services.
  • Provides information and referrals through personal, phone, and written communication with other individuals, departments, agencies, and organizations on a local, state, and national level.
  • Provides effective customer service and communication to help SBDC clients sign up for SBDC services.
  • Researches and resolves requests for information and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree related to technology, business management, economics or related field.
  • Ability to work and take initiative without close supervision;
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and strong computer skills;
  • Applicants must have at least 1-year experience working in fast-pace office environment;
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal skills, and telephone etiquette;
  • Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people;
  • Must have a valid CA class C driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with Constant Contact, email marketing and social media advertising campaigns (Facebook, LinkedIn and Google);
  • Experience with Acuity, Wordpress.org, and When I Work online software.
  • An understanding of educational institution policies and procedures;
  • Experience with event coordination and logistics;
  • Knowledgeable of NeoSerra CRM and SBDC program regulations;
  • Experience writing business plans, conducting industry research and knowledge of small business licenses and permits.
