Laboratory Assistant 1 Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201907124061 49% Part Time Other $33,638 - $38,962 Position Information The department has laboratories performing multidisciplinary research in a variety of areas that encompass questions in molecular, cellular and systems biology. Many of these questions relate to understanding both basic biology and the underlying causes of specific diseases. This position is part of the project that deals with the effects of tobacco products on the cells in the respiratory system. The project will be conducted using methods that include air-liquid interface exposure of cells to aerosols created with authentic chemicals or with electronic cigarettes. This position will be responsible for exposing cell cultures to chemicals found in electronic cigarettes, analyzing proteomics data, and providing reports on the data. Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Experience working with proteomics data sets and experience with air-liquid interface exposure of cultured cells.

Successful candidate must have experience with air liquid interface exposure of BEAS-2B cells using a VitroCell or Cultex exposure system. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with cultured cells and gel work.
