The Part-Time Floor Technician is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, & bonneting) areas that include offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas.

  • Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times
  • Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use at beginning and end of the shift
  • Handles floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing and burnishing on hard surface
  • Provides floor maintenance; including but not limited to, vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery
  • Provides other cleaning services; such as, dusting, routine restroom, office, and classroom cleaning
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Completion of Two (2) years of High School education and minimum of 2 years of experience in floor care; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods, implements and devices used in cleaning building area
  • Ability to understand English and follow oral and written instructions
  • Possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Possess considerable knowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and general house-keeping equipment
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints (due to schedule and last minute job requests)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and
