BASIC FUNCTION:

Direct a focused effort to recruit and retain a diverse faculty and senior-level administrators. Model leadership and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Consult regularly with the Chief Diversity Officer, Community, Equity and Diversity, the Director of Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Diversity (AAEOD), Human Resource Administration (HRA) and the Office of the Provost. Manage diversity initiatives to recruit and retain diverse employees. Develop strategies to provide support and direction to faculty and senior-level administrator search committees. Develop and oversee initiatives focused on mentoring and supporting faculty success. Develop and maintain database of national and international recruitment networks to identify exemplary diverse candidates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop a focused strategic plan to recruit and retain underrepresented tenure-track faculty and senior-level administrators.

Provide guidance to search committees in targeted outreach by employing proactive, strategic, and innovative recruitment strategies.

Develop ongoing networking relationships, collaborating with graduate programs, foundations, and organizations that promote underrepresented faculty and administration working in higher education.

Work together with AAEOD and HRA to establish and manage key organizational metrics to meet recruiting goals.

Submit formative and summative reports to the Chief Diversity Officer; Human Resources; Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Diversity; Provost; and deans on specific progress on recruitment strategies and retention programs.

Regularly assess and evaluate technology, tools, networks, associations, organizations, programs, and processes to help identify, recruit, and retain talented faculty and senior-level administrators.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED:

1. Master’s degree or other advanced degree.

2. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience as a faculty member or senior-level administrator.

3. Minimum of two years of experience recruiting faculty and/or senior-level administrators.

4. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and equity.

5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.

6. Demonstrated proficiency with written communication skills.

7. Demonstrated presentation or training skills.

8. Demonstrated ability to design proactive recruitment plans and retention initiatives for underrepresented faculty and/or senior-level administrators.

9. Demonstrated ability to work in a highly confidential and sensitive environment.

10. Demonstrated willingness to travel.

11. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED:

1. Terminal degree.

2. Demonstrated prior experience recruiting under-represented faculty and/or senior-level administrators into higher education positions.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of web-based search engines and social media.

4. Demonstrated time and project management skills.

5. Demonstrated supervisory experience.
