The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley invites applications for a 9 month, Lecturer I position beginning fall 2019. The University has campuses in Brownsville, Edinburg, McAllen, and Starr County. Primary responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, service, and advisement/mentoring activities. The University is located in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. This area is a growing region and is approximately 230 miles south of San Antonio. It has a semi-tropical climate and easily accessible to the beautiful beaches of South Padre Island. Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree from an accredited university in Health or Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines. The ability and qualifications to teach biomedical laboratories, independent research and lecture courses in the Health and Biomedical Sciences department, specifically in the BMED program.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

Applicants must have at least 3 years teaching experience, which enables them to teach molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, genetics, integrated body systems, anatomy & physiology, medical syndromes and pathophysiology courses and other courses as necessary in the BMED curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching Biomedical and Nutrition courses and online teaching as well as research experience are preferred.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
