Position SummaryDevelop, implement and oversee operational policies and practices of the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions and the Music Technology Program to ensure student productions and projects are facilitated through the studio labs and run smoothly and successfully. Ensure that the safety and security of faculty, students, facilities, and equipment in the studio labs is realized. Responsible for providing scheduling and occasional technical support in the running of the departments studio and recording spaces; including its new Dolan Recording and Research facility. Manages the preventative maintenance, and repair services, and as well as maintenance of a parts and supplies inventory. Manages and provides technical support for instruction, exhibition, events, and research; oversees the scheduling of the 8th floor studio facilities and additional specialty suites; serves as Instructional Support Specialist; trains and directly supervises Student Administrative Assistants and 8th floor monitors.QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree in Music TechnologyPreferred Education:Masters degree in Music Technology or 3 years equivalent studio experienceRequired Experience:Min. of 2 years of demonstrated experience managing a world class recording studio in all aspects of audio and video production technologies, for recording and exhibition; maintaining and operating multimedia equipment, video/data projection systems, and surround sound audio systems; production and post-production workflow; budget and material resource management; staff supervision.Preferred Experience:Video editing of concerts and events, using Final Cut, Adobe Premier and other software. Knowledge of safe techniques and practices relevant to Studio and Lab operations within a digital media production environment.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Background with Microsoft Office, Skype, Filemaker, ProTools, Logic, Digital Performer, Dante, Waves, JackTrip, MatLab, Finale, Sibelius, Isotope, MaxMSP, Melodyne, Osculator, Peak Pro, Reason, Sonic Studio, SoundTracks Pro, iTunes. Knowledge of high end Audio equipment including; SSL Duality & AWS, Allen and Heath and Mackie mixers, superior quality microphones, high end recording studio equipment and interconnects, video presentation equipment, audio research equipment and procedures, electronics equipment assessment as well as basic electronic repairs down to the component level. Troubleshooter/problem solver mentality is a necessity. Basic knowledge of audio software including; Music related software, Garage Band, Toast, Yellow Tools, Abelton Live, AltaVerb as well as others. Essential Requirements of the Position: Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs of equipment.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of non-music related software such as Adobe Design Suite, iChat, Office Tracker, Safari, Firefox, Fetch, iLife, iWorks, OmniGraffle, Parallels, PowerPoint, Real Player, Apple bundled software.Additional InformationEOE/AA/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
