DESCRIPTION

The UC San Diego Human Resources Department is the campus central office encompassing numerous core campus organizations that include DisAbility Counseling and Consulting, Equal Opportunity Services, Compensation and Classification, Benefits, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition and Data Analytics, Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, Labor Relations, Retirement Resource Center, Policy Development and Work Life, Staff Education and Development, and Temporary Employment Services.

UCPath is the University of California's priority program to implement a single payroll, benefits, human resources and academic personnel solution for all UC employees.

The UCPath HR Lead Subject Matter Expert supports UCPath implementation at UC San Diego, a project with campuswide and systemwide scope and significant impact to the organization. The position is established as an 18-month contract appointment at 100 percent time to serve as the coordinating point between Campus Human Resources and the UCPath Project Team.

This position operates as a functional leader with subject matter expertise in core human resources business processes, related policies and HR data. Requires expertise in project management, campus organization, and the UCPath HCM environment. The work requires frequent problem-solving and analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure.

Independently uses and applies wide-ranging experience and proficiency in organizational development, effectiveness, business process analysis and strategic planning working with multiple organizational stakeholders. Uses advanced organizational development professional concepts and organization objectives to resolve complex organizational development, design and effectiveness issues. Regularly works on highly complex organizational issues where analysis of circumstances, information, and data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

This role requires an individual with outstanding business acumen and the ability to work with, and identify the needs of, a complex organization. Requires the ability to understand and synthesize information from other subject matter experts, an understanding of how technology should work in support of the necessary business processes, possess excellent analytical abilities, and experience working with large complex application systems, supporting complex business processes in a large organization. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable with the execution and completion of critical deliverables, strong attention to detail, has the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and be driven by a desire to meet the campus business and information needs while simplifying and innovating in this space.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Extensive experience with and strong knowledge of Human Resources core functions, with demonstrated technical and functional expertise.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills. Experienced in leading projects that engage a diverse constituency and key stakeholders. Project leadership experience which includes familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Demonstrates ability to execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget, mitigate risks to project success, define project objectives, and oversee quality control through project’s life cycle.

  • Highly skilled in independently understanding, analyzing, interpreting complex data, written material, and computer generated information while maintaining the overall process viewpoint, and effectively communicate the results to a variety of personnel at various levels.

  • Demonstrates strong collaborative skills and knowledge of facilitation methods that lead to effective project outcomes. Highly skilled in facilitation, consulting, and relationship building.

  • Superior written and verbal skills and ability to convey enthusiasm and energy in presentations. Ability to organize ideas, data, and meaning to communicate clearly to a wide range of personnel at all levels.

  • Ability to take anecdotal information and translate it into measurable data. Expert ability to convey complex or technical content into understandable terms that suit the intended audience. Ability to compose and deliver presentations to large and/or diverse

  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, flexibility, and skills in dealing with politically sensitive situations.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills. Demonstrates the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and staff.

  • Demonstrates the ability to provide comprehensive recommendations and solutions that address project needs. Ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels. Demonstrates ability to become trusted facilitator/advisor engaging all essential campus stakeholders.

  • Demonstrates the ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment; ability to draw unbiased conclusions.

  • Ability to research information and synthesize research results into executive-level summaries, reports, and recommendations. Ability to quickly learn and communicate fundamental business statistical language and translate complex data for all levels and audiences.

  • Expert level knowledge of MS Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge of MS Project, Visio, SharePoint, SalesForce, Web Services, and JIRA.
