The School of Nursing (SON) http://nursing.wcu.edu invites qualified applicants to join a growing and well-respected program. We are seeking to fill three full-time 9-month appointments. Tenure track or fixed term options are available. Rank is commensurate with experience. We are seeking candidates across the nursing specialties, including but not limited to, adult health, pediatrics, mental health, geriatric health, community health, and simulation.

The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills, and based on their expertise, clinical, and research expertise, his/her primary responsibilities may include classroom, online and clinical/laboratory teaching. Western Carolina University has adopted the Boyer Model of Scholarship to support its commitment to integrated learning, the scholarship of engagement, and the stewardship of place. Other responsibilities include service on committees and participation in official activities of the School, College and University.

WCU SON is fully accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The WCU SON programs are located on the Cullowhee campus, housed in the state of the art Health Sciences building, and at the Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville, North Carolina, with clinical sites across the region in both rural and urban settings.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this PositionMinimum Qualifications

Requirements: master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program; eligibility for RN licensure in NC; prior teaching experience at BSN level or higher, current CPR certification, and two years prior experience in direct patient care as an RN. Applicants must also meet nurse educator requirements as outlined by the NC Board of Nursing.

Preferred Requirements: Doctoral Degree in Nursing or a related field (required for tenure track).
