Part-time Faculty - Department of Mathematics and Science

Job description

The Department of Mathematics and Science at Pratt Institute's Brooklyn Campus seeks part-time faculty applicants for the Fall 2019 semester to teach one or both of the following courses:

  • Evolution (information on the course can be found here);
  • Ecology, Environment, & the Anthropocene (information on the course can be found here).

Both courses are part of our "core" curriculum, a general education requirement for all art and design majors. Both courses are also writing intensive; because this requires substantial instructor engagement, enrollment for each course is capped at 15 students. Instructors will be provided with a detailed curriculum and a full set of presentation materials/student learning experiences, including a pre-populated learning management system site for each course.

Devoted to a creative learning community, Pratt recognizes the strength that stems from a diversity of perspectives, ideas, backgrounds, approaches, and experiences. We aspire to continue to grow as a place that always welcomes and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to contribute to and be part of Pratt culture.

Qualifications

PhD in life sciences or related areas.

Teaching experience preferred, particularly in regards to using writing to teach science.

Salary is commensurable with qualifications and experience.

Application Instructions

Review of applications begins August 5th and will continue until both positions are filled.
